Start here: champion the parents God has already given students
One of the greatest mistakes a student ministry can make is believing it exists to replace parents. It does not. God designed the family to be the primary place where faith is formed. Student ministry exists to reinforce, encourage, and equip what should already be happening in the home. The goal is not to become the most influential voice in a student's life. The goal is to strengthen the most influential voice God has already given them.
- Parents are the primary disciplers of their children.
- The church is called to equip and encourage parents.
- Student ministry should reinforce what families are building at home.
- Healthy partnerships create a faith that lasts beyond graduation.
- The greatest win is not a full youth room. It is students who continue following Jesus long after they graduate.
- Use this playbook to move from information to practical collaboration with families.
