Student Discipleship Pathway

A student ministry is more than a place to gather a crowd. Use this framework to give your leaders a shared assignment: help every student take a clear next step toward Jesus and a life spent making disciples.

01

Lost people saved

The first assignment is clear: help students who do not yet know Jesus hear and respond to the Gospel. Create a ministry where they are welcomed, Scripture is explained clearly, and faith is always an honest invitation.

  • Make the Gospel clear, personal, and present in every gathering.
  • Build trust before expecting spiritual openness.
  • Give students room to ask honest questions about Jesus and faith.
02

Saved people pastored

New faith needs care. Students who trust Jesus need to be known, welcomed into a healthy community, and walked with through the ordinary questions and challenges of life.

  • Know names, stories, and the realities students are carrying.
  • Connect new believers with consistent leaders and godly friends.
  • Follow up after significant moments instead of leaving students alone.
03

Pastored people discipled

Care is not the finish line. Help students build rhythms that form them over time: Scripture, prayer, worship, community, repentance, and obedience to Jesus in everyday life.

  • Teach students how to open Scripture and respond to it.
  • Give them practical next steps they can carry into the week.
  • Create small spaces where truth, prayer, and accountability can grow.
04

Discipled people mobilized

Maturing students are not simply consumers of ministry. Equip them to serve, lead, share their faith, and help their friends take their own next step toward Jesus.

  • Offer real responsibility with coaching and encouragement.
  • Help students recognize their influence at school, home, and church.
  • Celebrate disciples who are beginning to make disciples.
MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Use this as a starting point, then shape it around the students and leaders God has entrusted to you.
